Holler “Happy New Year” With Your Kids

Kids love a ball drop, but it can be awfully tough to make it to midnight. Instead, join the kid-friendly fun at our awesome local Grand Rapids Children’s Museum. Your family can enjoy snacks, sip sparkling juice, and holler “Happy New Year” long before midnight —their ball drops at 7:30 PM. Registration is required.

Go Griffs!

If your kids can stay awake a bit longer, your family can spend New Year’s Eve cheering on the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey team. They take on the Chicago Wolves this year at 6 PM and the fun doesn’t end when the game is over. Stay for the beautiful indoor fireworks show, and then head down to the ice enjoy the open skate on the Van Andel Arena ice rink.

The Grand Rapids Ball Drop

Downtown Grand Rapids is always hopping on New Year’s Eve and this year will be no different. Join the fun as crowds enjoy live music, food trucks, and fireworks before counting down in unison as the ball drops. Plenty of restaurants and bars will be open, too. The outdoor festivities begin at 5 PM.

Choose Your Ballroom Bash

A ticket to this epic annual event, which begins at 8 PM, includes themed parties in 4 different ballrooms – one at the JW Marriott and 3 in the Amway Grand Plaza. This year the JW Marriott party features Club J-Dub, while the ballrooms at the Amway will have the themes of “Bubbles and Bling,” a live band playing hits from the decades, and a “Rat Pat” experience.

 Emulate the Roaring 20’s

Ring in the New Year in style, as you don your finest Roaring 20s costume and dance the night away to music by The Theatre Bizarre Orchestra. Hosted by the Opera Grand Rapids, this chic New Year’s Eve costume party will include delicious food from local restaurants, as well as complimentary beer, wine, and signature 1920’s themed cocktails. The fun starts at 9PM at the Betty Van Andel Opera Center.

Pick a Party at the B.O.B.

Always a place a great place to find fun, the B.O.B. goes all out on New Year’s Eve. Reserve your spot now to celebrate with 5 stages of DJ entertainment, a variety of dining options at 4 restaurants, and a stand-up comedy show at Dr. Grins. The B.O.B. is also offering VIP Bottle Service reservations for New Year’s Eve.

Say Cheers to Beer City

If you’re one of the thousands of craft beer enthusiasts in Grand Rapids, you won’t want to miss Craft Beer Cellar’s “20 for 2020” event. Their New Year’s Eve tap takeover will feature 20 barrel-aged beers. Join the fun to say “Cheers!” to 2020.

Celebrate with the Drag Queens

Brick Road Pizza Company is hosting “Welcome to 2020: A Drag Benefit for Kids’ Food Basket.” With your ticket, you can ring in the new year enjoying fabulous entertainment, pizza, cocktails, and champagne, all while raising money for a great cause.

Get Funky at Founders

Lift a pint of Centennial IPA or Dirty Bastard scotch-style ale, while you tap your toes to Founder’s New Year’s Eve musical guests. This year, New Orleans-influenced band The Nth Power headlines the show.
